RALEIGH, N.C. – U.S. Senate candidate Kay Hagan has about $1.2 million in cash to spend in her bid to oust Sen. Elizabeth Dole in one of the most watched races in the nation.
The campaign reported Wednesday that it raised more than $1.5 million from the middle of April to the end of June. Hagan’s cash on hand indicates the Democratic state senator from Greensboro will have the resources to compete on the airwaves.
It’s about four times more than she reported three months ago.
Dole’s campaign declined to release numbers Wednesday but must file a report to the Federal Election Commission by Tuesday. The Republican had reported $3.2 million cash on hand in mid-April but has spent heavily on television ads since then.
