AP: Hagan pumping up energy talks at local gas station

Associated Press

GREENSBORO, N.C. — U.S. Senate candidate Kay Hagan is in her hometown to speak with consumers about high gas prices.

The Democratic state senator from Greensboro will meet with drivers at a local gas station to discuss how gas prices are affecting their personal budgets. She has held similar events in Raleigh and Wilmington.

Hagan’s campaign has repeatedly tied Dole to high gas prices, noting that the price at the pump has gone from $1.52 to $4.11 since Dole took office in 2003.

Hagan supports heavy investments in conservation and alternative energy. Dole also supports alternative energies but would like to see additional oil exploration and releases from the strategic petroleum reserve to bring gas prices down in the short-term.
