Associated Press: Hagan detailing plans for rural development

TARBORO, N.C. — U.S. Senate candidate Kay Hagan wants to increase investments to research biofuels that can be made in North Carolina.
Hagan is detailing her plans for rural development during visits to Tarboro, Clayton and Sims on Friday. Hagan is proposing a number of investments to improve rural life, including agriculture research, improvements in broadband Internet access and better access to health care.
Hagan also focuses heavily on researching alternative fuels. She says North Carolina can be involved in a switch to alternative energy with cellulosic ethanol made from timber, industrial sweet potatoes or switchgrass.
The state senator from Greensboro did not detail the cost of all her proposals.
