CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – U.S. Senate candidate Kay Hagan is visiting Charlotte to meet with local veterans.
Hagan’s husband is a Vietnam veteran, and 2 of her nephews are in the military. The Democrat has previously hosted similar events with veterans in Greensboro and Cary.
Hagan will speak about the military Thursday at an American Legion post in Charlotte before traveling to Raeford for a campaign event with Hoke County Sheriff Hubert Peterkin.
Both Hagan and Republican Sen. Elizabeth Dole have supported increased funding for veterans’ health care and benefits, including money for mental health.
