U.S. Senate candidate Kay Hagan will be in Scotland County today as part of a campaign swing through the 8th District to talk about jobs and trade issues.
Hagan, who hopes to unseat incumbent Elizabeth Dole, will tour downtown Laurinburg. State Sen. William Purcell will join her on the tour. Hagan, a Guilford County Democrat, also serves in the state Senate.
After the tour, Hagan will head to the Daily Grind at 221 S. Main St. to talk about the county’s high jobless rate. The talk is expected to begin at 12:30 p.m.
“Kay Hagan will be in Scotland County for a lunch time ‘meet and greet’ in downtown Laurinburg,” said Jan Schmidt, chairman of the Scotland County Democratic Party. “Everyone is welcome to come and meet the best candidate for NC for our next U.S. senator.”
Hagan will start the day in Anson County, meeting local residents at the Omelet Shoppe in Wadesboro.
Hagan will continue to tour at the Democratic Headquarters in Richmond County, where she says she will highlight her record of job growth in the state Senate and discuss what she would like to do in the U.S. Senate to help North Carolina workers. Afterward, Hagan will join the Rockingham Mayor Gene McLaurin on a walk through downtown Rockingham.
Hagan will finish the day in downtown Fayetteville where she will attend the “Fourth Friday” event with the Cumberland County Young Democrats.
