Kay Hagan says she raised $820,000 in the first three months of the year.
The Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate said that left her with more than $1 million in cash on hand.
“My race against Elizabeth Dole is competitive, it’s gaining momentum and it’s about fixing what’s broken in Washington on behalf of all North Carolinians,” she said in a statement.
Hagan faces Chapel Hill investment banker Jim Neal in the primary.
Update: Neal told Dome he doesn’t know how much he raised in that same period.
“I don’t have a clue,” he said. “We’ve got folks that are on it and they keep track of it.”
He laughed and added, “The lights are not about to come off in our office.”
