State Sen. Kay Hagan said Thursday that her campaign for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate raised $820,000 in the first three months of the year.
Hagan said that left her with more than $1 million in cash.
“My race against Elizabeth Dole is competitive, it’s gaining momentum, and it’s about fixing what’s broken in Washington on behalf of all North Carolinians,” she said in a statement.
Hagan faces Chapel Hill investment banker Jim Neal in the Democratic primary.
Neal told Dome he doesn’t know how much he raised in the same period.
But he laughed and said, “The lights are not about to come off in our office.”
