(RALEIGH)-Don’t be surprised if you see more ads this week criticizing Senator Elizabeth Dole. Experts says it just another sign of how close this year’s US Senate race may be. The National Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is behind the latest round of ads to criticize the six-year-record of Republican Elizabeth Dole.

Peace College political scientist David McLennan says it’s clear that Democrats at the national level see Dole as vulnerable. And he notes state Senator Kay Hagan could get another boost from the coattails of Barack Obama. Senator Dole has been busy touting her work on illegal immigration, protecting North Carolina military bases, and providing more funding for higher education. She also plans to skip the Republican National Convention in September, in hopes of getting more face-time with the voters.
