Charlotte on Wednesday: Hagan Unrolls Plan for "Stronger Schools, Successful Students," Meets with Members of HBCU Community
September 2, 2008
GREENSBORO, N.C. – State Senator and U.S. Senate Candidate Kay Hagan (D-Guilford) will continue her “Best Interests, Not the Special Interests” tour this week as she unveils her plan to promote “Stronger Schools, Successful Students” on Wednesday in Charlotte. Kay’s plan addresses the significance of investing in North Carolina’s students from pre-school through college, and specifically, ways to enable North Carolina students to pursue a college education and a career of their choosing. Kay will hold a roundtable discussion on Wednesday with members of the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) community, which has a vibrant presence in the state. North Carolina has a large number of HBCUs, including five private schools and five public schools. The roundtable event is a chance for Kay to meet with administrators and students of these institutions to discuss their importance in North Carolina and how she can help ensure that HBCUs continue to thrive once she is elected to the Senate.
