Dole Votes with Bush 92%; 92 Days Until Election Day
August 4, 2008
GREENSBORO, NC – Elizabeth Dole votes with President Bush 92% of the time, and today, 92 days before Election Day, the Hagan Campaign is holding a statewide canvass in communities from Asheville to Salisbury to Wilmington, highlighting Kay’s campaign to bring an effective voice to the U.S. Senate, replacing current Senator Elizabeth Dole.
“With only three months to go until the election, we need to be doing all we can to help elect Kay Hagan and get rid of Elizabeth Dole, who only moved here to run, and hasn’t been here since she won,” said Coleen Curran of Charlotte. “While we’re paying around $4 per gallon for gas, she’s voting 92% of the time with President Bush, giving Big Oil and Gas billions in tax incentives, and allowing them to keep it. It’s unconscionable, and the least I can do is talk to my friends and family about Kay’s campaign.”
The Hagan Campaign today will also begin its “92 Days, 92 Ways” campaign, during which, everyday between now and Election Day, the campaign will highlight at least one way in which Elizabeth Dole is out of touch with North Carolinians and ineffective for the people she was elected to represent.
“Election Day is right around the corner, and the momentum behind Kay is strong,” said Hagan Campaign Communications Director Colleen Flanagan. “Elizabeth Dole is still rarely seen in North Carolina, and when she is, it’s usually a closed door, private meeting, inaccessible to the people who she claims to serve. North Carolinians have had enough of this kind of shoddy representation and we’re simply pointing out what people already know — Elizabeth Dole votes for the special interests, not the best interests of the people she claims to represent.”
