Fourth of July Week: Hagan Celebrates, Honors Our Troops and Veterans at Town Hall Meeting, Picnics, Parades

June 30, 2008

GREENSBORO, N.C. – State Senator and U.S. Senate Candidate Kay Hagan (D-Guilford) will be traveling across North Carolina the week of July 4, holding events to honor our military and veterans, and participating in parades and celebrations for the holiday. On Tuesday, July 1, Kay will host a Veterans’ Town Hall in Cary, her second in a series of similar events at which Kay will meet with veterans to hear about the issues they face while trying to access benefits and services from the Department of Veterans Affairs. On Thursday, Kay will stop in Fayetteville, where she will host her fourth Carolina Family Reunion to introduce her immediate family to her extended family of supporters and volunteers, including military families from Fort Bragg.

Kay’s weekend continues with parades and celebrations in Charlotte, Shelby, Valdese, Columbus, Saluda, and Liberty.

“I am looking forward to traveling the state to continue meeting and talking to voters,” said Kay. “I love celebrating July 4th with my friends and family, and I am thrilled that I have the opportunity to share the holiday with friends all across North Carolina this year. It is especially important that we take time this weekend to honor our military servicemen and women and veterans here and around the country for all of the sacrifices they have made. Our country would not be what it is without their dedication, and we owe them a special debt of gratitude for everything they have done.”
