GREENSBORO, NC- Kay Hagan’s U.S. Senate campaign today announced that it ended the first quarter of 2008 with more than $1 million cash on hand, after having raised $820,000 in the first three months of the year. Kay is running for the U.S. Senate against Elizabeth Dole.
“My race against Elizabeth Dole is competitive, it’s gaining momentum and it’s about fixing what’s broken in Washington on behalf of all North Carolinians,” Kay said. “This strong quarter ensures that we’ll have the resources necessary as we move through the primary into the general election, to talk to voters, travel the state and run an aggressive campaign.”
Kay received 78% of her individual donations from people in North Carolina, showing substantial in-state support for her campaign. This, as Kay’s campaign travels from one end of the state to the other, talking to voters about their concerns and what they feel needs to be done to fix Washington. Kay has also built a professional and experienced campaign team who will work with her to spread her message and talk to as many voters as possible across North Carolina.
Yesterday, Real Clear Politics ranked the North Carolina Senate race as one of its top 10 U.S. Senate races to watch. Kay will speak in Rutherford County this evening and will travel through eastern North Carolina this weekend, making 7 stops in various counties.
