GREENSBORO, NC- For a third consecutive term, The North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research (NCCPPR) today has named State Senator and U.S. Senate Candidate Kay Hagan (D-Guilford) as one of their top-10 most effective state senators. This is the third time Kay has received this top-10 ranking.
“This rating illustrates my commitment to working class North Carolinians all across the state,” said Kay. “I’m proud to have earned a top-10 distinction for the past three terms. My hard work is exactly the type of effective leadership we need for this state in Washington and that is exactly why I am running for the U.S. Senate.”
Hagan has served as Co-Chair of the Budget Committee during her last three terms and believes in keeping track of every penny spent. She has consistently done the hard work of turning out balanced budgets while ensuring important investments in quality schools, job training and tax-cuts for an increasingly struggling middle class.
“Washington is broken, and Elizabeth Dole has been totally ineffective for working families in North Carolina,” Kay said. “Despite her long career in Washington, she is ranked 93 out of 100 Senators in terms of effectiveness and power, and she votes with Bush 92% of the time. Regardless of our party, we all can agree that is not the kind of representation this state deserves.”
The NCCPPR is an independent non-profit organization “dedicated to the goals of a better-informed public and more effective, accountable, and responsive government.” They have published the effectiveness ratings since 1977.
