Kay Raises More Than $2.6 Million in Third Quarter
October 15, 2008
GREENSBORO, N.C. – State Senator and U.S. Senate Candidate Kay Hagan (D-Guilford) ended another impressive fundraising quarter, raising more than $2.6 million for her campaign from July through September.
“It’s an incredibly strong fundraising haul and indicative of the confidence folks across the state have in Kay and her ability to fix what’s broken in Washington,” said Hagan Campaign Communications Director Colleen Flanagan. “While Elizabeth Dole is funded by Big Oil and Gas and her friends on Wall Street and K Street, more than 85 percent of Kay’s contributions from the past three months have come from individual contributors. The true grassroots nature of Kay’s campaign has also been demonstrated by the more than 10,000 individual contributions she received online.”
All recent polling has shown Kay ahead of Elizabeth Dole and Kay has received every newspaper endorsement currently offered, including the Asheville Citizen-Times, Charlotte Observer, Greensboro News-Record, and the Winston-Salem Journal. The endorsements, citing Kay’s decade of service in the state Senate, have stated:
• “All of her budgets have been balanced and responsible.”
• “Hagan, 55, is a bundle of brains and energy.”
• “Hagan will give N.C. a better voice in the Senate.”
