Kay's Campaign Continues Grassroots Outreach
Friday: “Electeds to Elect Kay” Phone Bank in Asheville
Saturday: Early Vote Conventions Across the State
October 9, 2008
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Kay Hagan’s campaign for the U.S. Senate will hold several events this weekend to continue its grassroots outreach to voters across the state of North Carolina in advance of Early/One-Stop Voting and Election Day. On Friday, Kay’s “Electeds to Elect Kay” effort will kick off with local elected leaders phone-banking on Kay’s behalf. This week in Asheville, Rep. Ray Rapp, Sen. Joe Sam Queen, Rep. Susan Fisher, Rep. Bruce Goforth, and Sheriff Van Duncan will be making calls to local voters to talk about Kay’s ideas to fix what’s broken in Washington.
On Saturday, the campaign will hold statewide Early Vote Conventions to activate volunteers before Early/One-Stop Voting begins next week. These conventions will feature statewide candidates, surrogates and campaign staff who will speak about this historic election year and how supporters can best help Kay get elected. Attendees will then participate in a phone-bank to make sure as many North Carolina voters as possible know about Early/One-Stop Voting and Kay’s plans to advocate on their behalf in Washington. Early Vote Conventions will take place in Asheville, Charlotte, Fayetteville, Greensboro, Raleigh, Rocky Mount and Wilmington.
“This campaign has put a premium on aggressive, grassroots campaigning since day one,” said Hagan Campaign Communications Director Colleen Flanagan. “This race is about the people in North Carolina who feel as though Elizabeth Dole is ineffective and absent. We have received a tremendous response from North Carolinians who are happy to know that someone is finally available and willing to listen to them, their concerns and their suggestions. The phone calls and door-knocking have generated a buzz in North Carolina that echoes Kay’s call to fix what is broken in Washington. Kay’s going to win this race because of North Carolinians’ support, not the special interests.”
