Saturday in Durham: Kay Holds Crime and Gangs Roundtable, Brings Elected, Community Leaders To Discuss Problem

August 22, 2008

GREENSBORO, N.C. – State Senator and U.S. Senate Candidate Kay Hagan (D-Guilford) will continue her “Best Interests, Not the Special Interests” tour this weekend with a focus on her plan to help keep our streets and schools safe from crime and gang violence. On Saturday, Kay will hold a roundtable discussion in Durham with local leaders and community activists to discuss her ideas to strategically deal with crime and gang violence. Durham Mayor Bill Bell will be participating in the roundtable along with other community leaders.

During her decade of service in the state Senate, Kay has built a solid reputation as an advocate for youth and the law enforcement community. Kay was in Durham on Thursday for a press conference to announce the endorsements of 53 Sheriffs from across the state who are supporting her campaign. She held a similar event today in Charlotte to receive the endorsements of Mecklenburg County Sheriff Chipp Bailey.

Kay’s plan to combat crime and gang violence can be found at www.kayhagan.com.
