GREENSBORO, NC – State Senator and U.S. Senate Candidate Kay Hagan (D-Guilford) won the Forsyth County Convention straw poll yesterday, garnering 58% of the vote.

Forsyth County Vice-Chair, Mary Dickinson, was proud to say that 70 out of the county’s 81 precincts reported, representing exceptional turn-out for the convention. “The folks that were there, who are dedicated Democrats, this is how they feel about the upcoming election,” said Ms. Dickinson.

“I am so gratified that the Forsyth County Democrats believe, as I do, that Washington is broken, and I am the most qualified and prepared candidate to fix it. Saturday was a long, albeit invigorating, day all across the state for my campaign,” Kay said. “My family, my staff, surrogates and volunteers visited 60 county conventions, allowing voters all across the state – from Cherokee to Dare Counties – a chance to interact with my campaign and get to know more about me.”

This strong showing in the Forsyth County Convention Straw Poll is a reflection of Kay’s momentum and grassroots support in Forsyth County and across the state. Kay spoke to voters at the Forsyth County Convention yesterday about her ideas to fix what’s broken in Washington and her record of proven leadership. She also attended Rockingham, Mecklenburg and Alamance County conventions and had surrogates at nearly 60 other county conventions statewide yesterday.
Kay was endorsed last week by the Winston-Salem Journal and today by the Charlotte Observer.
