Women For Kay Gather in Johnston, Cabarrus Counties to Decorate Ruby Red Slippers
June 27, 2008
GREENSBORO, NC – Women for Kay in Johnston and Cabarrus Counties gathered last night for Ruby Red Slippers Decorating Parties in their communities. The Johnston County party took place in Clayton at the home of Sarah Anderson, and the Cabarrus County event was held at the Stowe-Away restaurant in Concord. Throughout the campaign, Kay has said she wants to give Elizabeth Dole a pair of Ruby Red Slippers so she can click her heels three times and go back to Kansas with her husband, Bob. The slippers these women decorated highlighted an issue they feel Elizabeth Dole has neglected during her time in the U.S. Senate.
Last night’s parties were the second and third events of their kind. Women for Kay in Haywood County have already thrown their own Ruby Red Slippers Decorating Party in Waynesville.
“We are so excited to have Kay Hagan as the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate,” said supporter and host Sarah Anderson of Johnston County. “She has a level of energy, enthusiasm, and intellect that can’t be matched by her opposition. She holds in her heart the best interest for North Carolina. The Johnston County Women for Kay are looking to build momentum within the county by coming together to share information, and uniting for this important campaign. We welcome any opportunity we can get to support her, introduce others to her message and make them a part of the Hagan team.”
“Liddy Dole has consistently voted against the better interests of the people of North Carolina, who she was elected to represent,” said Grace Liem, a Cabarrus County supporter. “She seems to think that she was elected to support her party rather than the common, working folk. Kay Hagan has consistently voted in the North Carolina Senate in the best interests of North Carolina from children’s health care to military matters. She has proven her mettle and I am proud to work on getting her elected.”
More parties will be taking place throughout the state, with a larger event in the fall.
